Commission recommends candidate status for Bosnia and Herzegovina
The EU is in favor of nominating Bosnia and Herzegovina as a candidate for accession to the European Union and has recommended the EU Council to grant the country candidate status. This was announced by the Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Wednesday at the European Union Ambassadors’ Conference where the Commission presented their 2022 Enlargement Package, evaluating the reforms in the Western Balkan states and Turkey. MEPs support new trade instrument to fight economic blackmail
The European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade (INTA) has backed a new tool that would enable the EU to respond to third countries seeking to coerce it or Member States. The proposed anti-coercion instrument, first presented by the European Commission in 2021, received significant support from the INTA Committee with 34 MEPs voting in favour of the initiative and no one voting in opposition. Irish Government pledges that no households will face energy cut-offs this winter
