Laura Siegel Rabinowitz

Laura is a shareholder in the New York office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP. She counsels domestic and multinational businesses on complex supply chain issues and other complicated challenges associated with trade, advising on mitigation of duty exposure and compliance. Laura has deep experience handling international trade projects for multinational importers, exporters, manufacturers, retailers, customs brokers, and freight forwarders in industries such as renewable energy, steel, apparel, consumer products and industrial equipment among others.

Laura advises on supply chain strategies including the enforcement of forced-labor and the mitigation of tariffs on Chinese-made products, steel and aluminum. She helps clients navigate the maze of regulations, customs, and other government agency scrutiny, as well as the broad array of commercial and enforcement laws and policies administered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, including trade compliance and audit programs, and duty savings initiatives such as free trade agreements and the use of “first sale.” Laura’s practice also includes advising on the enforcement of antidumping and countervailing duties.

Laura’s depth of knowledge regarding global customs law extends to audits, marking, penalty defense, valuation, tariff classification, entry procedures, and antiterrorism initiatives. She advises on other import requirements administered by federal agencies including the Food and Drug Administration, Consumer Product Safety Commission, and Environmental Protection Agency, and requirements involving the health and safety of imported goods.

Prior to entering private practice, Laura served as an attorney with U.S. Customs’ Office of the Assistant Chief Counsel, representing Customs in litigation in the Court of International Trade.

He is also responsible for ensuring that we deliver on that promise to global clients headquartered in other markets with operations in the Northeast. In short, the purpose of the role is to bring the best of EY across the world to support our clients’ global growth agendas.

James also leads EY’s Americas-Africa Business Center based in New York. In this role he works with key EY accounts in the Americas, across a range of sectors, to assist them in developing, stress-testing and executing their Africa growth strategies, bringing to bear the practical experience he has gained in building EY’s business in Africa.

Prior to his current role James was responsible for leading the execution of EY’s Africa Investment Plan. This multi-year plan is focused on building capacity, expanding the firm’s footprint and enhancing EY’s brand across 28 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

James has more than 34 years’ experience in providing assurance and advisory services to a number of the firm’s leading clients in the Oil & Gas, Retail and Consumer Products and Life Insurance sectors. He has also held a number of leadership positions in the firm, including Africa Oil & Gas Sector Leader and Western Cape Regional Senior Partner.

James is a Chartered Accountant and has degrees in Accounting and Commerce from the University of Cape Town. He is an Advisory Board member of Afrika Tikkun USA Inc. and was previously a Board member of the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) and a member of the Education Committee of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).

She covers subsidiaries of international corporates operating in the US, with a concentration in UK & European headquartered corporates. Prior to her current role, Claire worked as the New York based Europe Desk for HSBC’s US Corporate Banking business, providing guidance and expertise to US corporate operating overseas.

Claire is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland, with a degree in Economics from Cornell University in Ithaca New York, and a graduate degree in Accounting from Dublin City University.

She has extensive experience advising international and domestic clients on all aspects of corporate law including public and private M&A, equity capital markets, corporate restructurings and corporate governance. Deirdre advises clients across a range of industry sectors including pharma/healthcare, technology and energy.
