EU co-legislators reach agreement on gas market reform

This week, Members of the European Parliament and the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU reached a provisional deal on the ongoing reform of the EU’s gas market. The main objectives of the new reform are to address climate change and energy security. It aims to help decarbonise the EU by supporting increasing renewable gas and hydrogen production and integrating them into the EU’s energy networks. It will also help secure the energy supply in response to gas flow disruptions caused by the Russian aggression of Ukraine. Keep reading.

 

European Parliament takes next steps towards digital health services

After months of internal negotiations, the European Parliament’s Committees on the Environment, Public Health, and Food Safety (ENVI) and Civil Liberties, Justice, and Home Affairs (LIBE) agreed a joint position in favour of the creation of a European Health Data Space (EHDS). The initiative aims to assist citizens in accessing their health data whilst also allowing the secure sharing of said data for research purposes within the EU. Keep reading.

 

Intergovernmental Conference shows cooperation, but no answers on Stormont

This week Dublin was host to the British-Irish Intergovernmental Conference (BIIGC) which aims to facilitate cooperation on matters of mutual interest between Ireland and the United Kingdom (UK). The conference was established as part of the Belfast / Good Friday Agreement and allows for dialogue between the two governments on matters ranging from security cooperation to citizenship and identity Keep reading.
