Curl Translations | Trends in Immigration to Spain

Spain continues to attract people from around the world, whether they are relocating for work, retirement, study, entrepreneurship, or family reunification. According to Spain’s National Statistics Institute (INE), the number of foreign nationals increased by 94,182 during the first quarter of 2026, bringing the total foreign population to 7.35 million residents.

As immigration pathways evolve and application volumes remain high, one requirement has remained constant: the need for accurate, officially recognized document translations.
One of the most significant trends we are seeing is the increasing diversity of applicants. Alongside traditional migration from Latin America and other countries in Europe, Spain has also experienced a notable increase in arrivals from North America. According to the INE, the number of U.S. citizens living in Spain reached 50,623 by early 2024 – an increase of approximately 26% in just two years. Much of this growth has been driven not only by retirees, but also by remote workers, entrepreneurs, and highly skilled professionals relocating under Spain’s expanding range of residence options.

This shift has increased demand for sworn translations across a wider range of document types, including civil status records, FBI background checks, university diplomas and transcripts, powers of attorney, corporate documents, and immigration records.

Whether you are applying for a visa, residency, nationality, or a renewal, investing in high-quality sworn translations is an important step toward ensuring that your application proceeds as smoothly as possible.
