Webinar | Quarterly EU Economic Update: Prospects for Global Growth & Re-Freshed Transatlantic Collaboration

Thu. September 07, 2023
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

!Online

Join us for an update about the recent economic developments and the near-term outlook for Europe and the Transatlantic economy.

Recent economic data and public policy developments through mid-August weigh the prospects for European and global growth against a range of potential risks with a special focus on the transatlantic economic developments and the green energy, cleantech industries.

  • Our panel will review recent economic developments and discuss the near-term outlook. Economic momentum slowed this summer, but many EU countries are still enjoying a rebound from last year’s energy shock. Others, including Germany and the EU’s manufacturing sector more broadly, face structural challenges as they seek to adapt to new competitive pressures and transition to cleaner green technologies.

  • In many parts of the world, countries are rolling out new green industrial policies that are promoting investment in new domestic capacity. In the US, the Inflation Reduction Act and other public policies have encouraged a boom in new manufacturing facilities, while in China many large companies (for example in electric vehicles) are using state support to emerge as globally competitive exporters.

  • While these policies are already helping to promote the green transition, they also threaten to introduce new forms of geopolitical competition and protectionism. We will discuss the EU’s plans to use EU funds to promote new investments and achieve net zero carbon emissions while maintaining the single market and boosting competitiveness.

Join us to learn more about how the EU is navigating the post-pandemic economic environment and how a strong trans-Atlantic partnership will promote both climate friendly economic growth and a strong, rules based global economy. Hear what you need to know about the EU economy and its effects on US investors. This is a panel you don't want to miss!
