Who is in Control of AI – Is There a Plug if Something Goes Wrong?

Wed. May 28, 2025
08:30 am - 10:30 am

!Bank of Ireland NYC Hub
New York, NY 10017

The rise of AI presents an opportunity to solve complex problems, drive innovation, and create new possibilities for analysis we have never dared to dream of. With that said, this path to increased data collection and subsequent analysis must be navigated carefully to avoid missteps and very slippery slopes.

AI is a great tool but it brings serious risks associated with it. In case of serious mistakes, it will be essential to have a plan to put humans back at the helm.

Our panel of distinguished experts will walk us through the current developments and will share their views on future developments in AI technology and capabilities.

This will be both a technical discussion about the inner workings of AI as well as an ethical analysis of the effects of AI systems on society.

We will raise issues such as:
What is the role of AI, what can it be and what it cannot?
Is AI accountable? Can it be? (decision making vs. decision support)
Can AI go rogue and how likely is that?
What would it look like if the machines “take over”?
Should AI be “unplugged” if it starts making any troublesome/worrisome decisions by itself?
Who decides how “trouble” is defined?
How to and who will be monitoring dis-/misinformation, what are the technical challenges to reign in on this?
Will there be a plug and if so, who will be able to pull it? (incl. technical aspects of that challenge)
