GL events 6 months later | Moving forward – Not looking back

So much has happened to our industry since March 2020. The last few months have been very hectic, with multiple changes in our calendar worldwide. GL events group has been very shaken to say the least, with all 50 venues shutdown for over 3 months. Since June, a path to recovery is possible- new sanitary and health measures were put in place and safety guidelines approved around the globe for our MICE industry to slowly re-open for business. Europe and Asia are resuming their activity and reopening their convention centers and tradeshows this September. Latin America and South Africa are still struggling to contain the virus and will reopen end of 2020- early 2021.

So what happened during these last 6 months? GL events teams remained engaged in the battle against COVID-19. Several of our international venues were selected by city officials, hospitals and food banks to provide assistance, care and social services to local residents. Our venues in Brazil (Rio and Sao Paulo) and in South Africa (Johannesburg) are still operating as Covid Field Hospitals with over 500 beds and some intensive care units. One silver lining was all the volunteering and community work our teams were able to participate in!

Looking ahead, the Group is mobilizing all its efforts to take advantage of significant growth opportunities in 2021. Very large events such as the Tokyo Olympic Games, the Euro football championship and the World Expo of Dubai offer some of these opportunities. For the longer term, GL events is reinventing itself, bringing live broadcasting, virtual and hybrid capacities worldwide. With a strong brand name and proven expertise, our group possesses all the growth drivers needed to rebound as the business event industry continues to reimagine itself.

Let’s #golivetogether!
