- Cuatrecasas receives the award for the most innovative firm in Continental Europe
- The only firm in a non-English speaking country in the top 10 of European legal innovation
- The firm also earns the top awards in the “Strategy & Changing behaviors” and “Collaboration” categories
- Honorable mentions in “New products & services,” “Technology” and “New business & service delivery models”
- Jorge Badía, the firm’s Managing director, recognized as one of the top 10 most innovative lawyers in Europe
Cuatrecasas is one of the leading European firms in legal innovation, according to the prestigious publication Financial Times Innovative Lawyers. For the 2018 edition, the jury recognized the firm presided by Rafael Fontana as the most innovative European firm (outside the United Kingdom), excelling in the special categories “Strategy & Changing behaviours” and “Collaboration.” The firm also earned honorable mentions in “New products & services,” “Technology” and “New business & service delivery models.”
Jorge Badía, Cuatrecasas Managing director, is one of the 10 most innovative lawyers in Europe for leading the firm’s transformation, especially changing the lawyers’ evaluation model, driving the diversity and gender equality policies and giving a greater voice to the new generation. The firm ranks tenth among the most innovative firms in Europe, the first one in a non-English country in this year’s ranking.
Strategy, cultural change and collaboration
Cuatrecasas also receives two awards in the “Strategy & changing behaviours” and “Collaboration” categories. The first, for Cuatrecasas Ventures, the startup investment company and the LegalTech initiatives. The second, because of the synergies between Cuatrecasas and Ogayar, combining legal knowledge and data analysis for the Spanish citrus fruit industry.
Business innovation and Artificial intelligence
Cuatrecasas was also “highly commended” in the category “New products & services”, thanks to an application that makes it possible to measure risk in tax operations, based on the type of tax and the year.
Also in the fiscal area, the firm stands out in “New business & service delivery models”. Cuatrecasas was one of a small number of companies participating in the Spanish tax authorities (“AEAT”) and SAP’s pilot program launching the Immediate Information Supply (“IIS”) plan for VAT.
Finally, in the “Technology” category, the firm is committed to Artificial intelligence for changing the business and improving productivity and efficiency, especially in areas such as real estate. This is the case of an application based in the doXray learning machine for Due Diligence operations and massive data registration.
