RK&O Promotes Jamie Schafer to Partner, Emily Kelley to Counsel

Richards Kibbe & Orbe LLP is pleased to announce that Jamie A. Schafer has been named a partner in the firm and Emily Kelley has been elevated to counsel. Both attorneys are based in the Washington, D.C. office.

Jamie A. Schafer
Ms. Schafer advises clients on internal investigations, criminal and regulatory enforcement actions and compliance questions relating to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, U.S. economic sanctions, federal securities laws and anti-money laundering rules. Her vast experience managing multi-jurisdictional investigations has spanned five continents, and she has conducted multiple global risk assessments for the boards of publicly traded companies. Ms. Schafer also regularly advises foreign and domestic clients on designing compliance programs as well as conducting transactional diligence with regard to compliance with U.S. laws and regulations. She is a co-chair of the National Women’s Law Center Leadership Advisory Committee and a member of the Women’s White Collar Defense Association. She received her J.D., with honors, from the George Washington University Law School, and her B.A., with honors, from the University of Chicago.
For her extensive pro bono work on behalf of indigent clients and nonprofit organizations, Ms. Schafer was named to the 2013, 2014 and 2018 Capital Pro Bono High Honor Roll. She also received the 2014 Safe Haven Award from Immigration Equality for her pro bono representation of LGBTQ immigrants.
Emily Kelley
Ms. Kelley practices in the firm’s Civil Litigation and Investigations & Enforcement practice groups, representing public companies, venture capital firms and individuals in complex civil litigation and securities enforcement actions. She earned her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, and her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame. Ms. Kelley has been named a Rising Star for General Litigation by SuperLawyers Magazine for Washington D.C. (2017-2019) and Massachusetts (2012-2013).
She contributes significant time to pro bono immigration matters, including successful claims for asylum and protection under the Violence Against Women Act. Ms. Kelley has also made multiple appearances on the Capital Pro Bono High Honor Roll for her commitment to public service.
