Ogletree Deakins Elects Two New Board Members

Ogletree Deakins –

Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to announce that Phoenix shareholder Nonnie Shivers and Pittsburgh shareholder W. Scott Hardy have been elected to the firm’s Board of Directors. Shivers and Hardy succeed Joseph Clees and Ron Chapman, who are returning to their practices in Phoenix and Dallas, respectively.

Shivers has practiced in Ogletree Deakins’ Phoenix office since 2005 and was elected to shareholder in 2013. She focuses her practice on defending employers against allegations of discrimination, sexual harassment, and wrongful termination in state and federal court, as well as administrative forums. She also provides advice and guidance to employers on reductions in force, disability issues, and pre-litigation disciplinary matters. Shivers is at the forefront of advising employers regarding LGBTQ issues in the workplace. She regularly speaks on current and emerging employment law topics for legal and human resources organizations and has published several scholarly articles focused on employment law. She is a former chair of the Arizona State Bar Continuing Legal Education Committee and a former instructor of the Arizona State Bar’s Professionalism Course. Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Shivers served as a law clerk to the Honorable Patricia K. Norris on the Arizona Court of Appeals. Shivers earned her J.D. from the University of Arizona.

Hardy joined Ogletree Deakins’ Pittsburgh office as a shareholder in 2010 and served as managing shareholder of that office from 2012 – 2018. Hardy has practiced law for more than 20 years and regularly counsels employers on all aspects of their employment relationships, represents employers in federal and state court litigation (including class and collective actions and appeals), and defends employers in investigations conducted by governmental agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, Department of Labor, and National Labor Relations Board. Active in the Pennsylvania community, Hardy has served on the Board of Directors for the Good Samaritan Hospice of Pittsburgh and Laurel Highlands Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He is also a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and former vice chair of the American Healthcare Lawyers Association’s Labor and Employment Practice Group. Hardy earned his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame.
