2023

01/17/2023 – Opportunities & Challenges of the Tokenization of Finance
This program was organized in collaboration with Banque de France. Our distinguished guests shared their insights on how this dual approach sheds a unique light on the tokenization of finance and how public authorities could play a role in this movement.

02/02/2023 – Transatlantic Trade Update with Sabine Weyand
The EACCNY, together with the EU Delegation to the U.S. organized a private lunch with Sabine Weyand the EU’s Director-General of DG Trade, who updated our audience of transatlantic business executives on EU and U.S. trade related issues and inquire on the state of EU – U.S. trade relations and brought together a select group of C-level Executives from European and American companies based in the US.

03/07/2023 – The War in Ukraine: Economic Support, Sanctions & Policy Responses – One Year Later
This members-only private breakfast featured Annika Eriksgaard, Director for International Economic Relations and Global Governance at DG ECFIN, EU Commission in conversation with Angel Ubide, Managing Dirtor at Citadel.

03/27/2023 – Private Breakfast with Laurence Boone, French Minister of State for Europe
The EACCNY, along with the Embassy of France, co-organized this private breakfast to discuss issues around the transatlantic relationship in a time of global challenges.

04/14/2023 – Closed-Door Dialogue with Dr. Werner Hoyer, President of the European Investment Bank (EIB)
This program was organized in collaboration with the EIB Washington D.C. office and featured Dr. Hoyer and Jean-Christophe Laloux, Director of General Operations at the EIB in conversation with C-suite EACCNY members to discuss overall opportunities for transatlantic cooperation in climate and transition.

05/01/2023 – Private Discussion with Pierre Moscovici, First President of the French Cour des Comptes
This program featured Pierre Moscovici, former EU Commissioner for Economic & Financial Affairs, Taxation & Customs, who is now charged with auditing the use of public spending for France. The discussion focused on French economic developments and the EU economic outlook for businesses, as well as the post-covid economic responses in France and the EU.

07/20/2023 – ‘Positioning Europe in a World of Geopolitical Tensions & Rivalry’ An exclusive discussion with Paolo Gentiloni, European Commissioner for Economy
Commissioner Gentiloni in conversation with John Sinclair Foley, Financial Editor, REUTERS BREAKINGVIEWS addressed challenges incl. staying the course on its green transition, preserving its industrial competitiveness, and defending an open, rules-based multilateral economic order.

10/25/2023 – Private Breakfast with David O’Sullivan, EU’s Sanctions Envoy
This program was organized in collaboration with the Delegation of the EU to the U.S. in the framework of a private breakfast. David O’Sullivan, EU’s Sanctions Envoy updated our guests about the latest transatlantic efforts to implement sanctions against Russia

This program was organized in collaboration with the Consulate General of Ireland in New York in the framework of a working lunch to discuss issues around the interconnected global financial markets and digital currencies.

12/07/2023 – Getting Ready for the Digital Euro and Other Central Bank Issued Digital Currencies
Our panel of experts discussed the proposed framework for digital currencies, and elaborated on the preparations needed by the global/regional/national regulators, policy makers as well as financial market participants. They also touched upon the implications of the electronic currency for the financial and corporate sector.

12/12/2023 – Risks Stemming from the Intertwined Global Financial Markets – How can Policymakers, Regulators and Businesses Work Together to Mitigate these Risk Factors?
Our panel discusses the interconnected nature of the financial system and the major concerns among financial institutions, academics and policymakers.

2/02 & 2/04/2022 – Private Dinner & Breakfast with EU Commissioner for the Environment and Oceans, Mr. Virginijus Sinkevičius
The EACCNY organized these private events to discuss the European Green Deal, and especially on issues related to sustainable finance, green bond standard, sustainability-related disclosure, as well as, changing how we produce and consume: Circular Economy business models and their development across the Atlantic.

2/08/2022 – Supply Chain Disruption: A Look Ahead
This panel of experts include: the EU Commission’s Director Directorate General for Trade along with trade experts from HSBC and AlixPartners. The conversation centered around what needs to change in the global supply chain in the aftermath of the pandemic as well as next steps to future-proof companies’ systems & operations.

4/08/2022 – The Role EU and U.S. Competition Policy Can Play in the Era of Building Back Better
The EACCNY, in coordination with the EU Commission, hosted a dialog between Olivier Guersent, Director-General at DG Competition and Peter Coy with the NY Times around antitrust issues affecting European and American companies involved in transatlantic business.

5/19/2022 – Quarterly EU Economic Update: Forged in Crisis – How the War in Ukraine May Strengthen the European Union & the Transatlantic Relationship
The EACCNY, in partnership with the EU Delegation to the US, and joined by the European Central Bank, discussed the challenges and opportunities faced by the EU economy in light of the released Spring 2022 Economic Forecast, the first to factor in the war in Ukraine and associated sanctions on Russia.

06/08/2022 – Lunch with Thomas Byrne, T.D., Minister of State for European Affairs, Ireland at the Irish Consul General’s Residence
The EACCNY organized this working lunch in partnership with the Consulate General of Ireland in New York. The discussion centered around transatlantic relations and opportunities for the EU and the U.S.

09/07/2022 – The Economic Impact of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine on the Global Economy
This Members-Only event featured both Annika Eriksgaard, Director for International Economic Relations and Global Governance and Moreno Bertoldi, Acting Head of Unit & Advisor for International Economic and Financial Affairs at the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) at the European Commission.

10/11/2022 – The Future of Transatlantic Finance with EU Commissioner McGuinness: The EU-U.S. Cooperation on Digital & Sustainable Finance
Mairead McGuinness, EU Commissioner in charge of Financial Stability, Financial Services, and Capital Markets Union explained her priorities regarding sustainable finance, discussed the latest European financial markets developments, highlighted the role of financial innovation and the need of a global approach to regulating crypto-assets.

In what ways can the European situation be compared to the United States and what reform packages implemented in Europe could work on this side of the Atlantic? Speakers provided a global economic outlook, elaborated on how coordinated efforts at European and international level put Europe back on track and gave their views on the transatlantic relationship in the global economic context.

In the decade since the great economic crisis, regulators across the globe have imposed new rules designed to ensure financial institutions pursue strategies that acknowledge their purpose as important stewards of ethical and inclusive business practices.  Three of the foremost thinkers on the matter, Ellen R. The European American Chamber of Commerce and the Consulate General of the Netherlands convened leaders from the public and private sector for a discussion with Chris Buijink, President of the Dutch Bankers Association on the future of transatlantic relations and banking.

EACCNY hosted Christian Noyer, a French economist who served Governor of the Bank of France from 2003 to 2015. Mr. Noyer met with a select group of invited guests for a one on one about what to expect once Britain exits the European Union.

05/23/17 – Wall Street’s Stake in the UN – The role of the Private Sector in financing Sustainable Development
On May 23, 2017 the European Union Delegation of the United Nations and the European American Chamber of Commerce hosted an event at UN Headquarters on the margins of ECOSOC’s Financing for Development (FFD) Follow-up Forum, it brought together Wall Street and corporate leaders, international banks, private equity funds, investors, private foundations representatives and Delegates accredited to the United Nations to consider the fundamental role of the private sector in advancing the sustainable development agenda and discuss ways to mobilize the global business community in support of the Sustainable Development Goals.

On Wednesday, July 12 the European American Chamber of Commerce hosted Former Irish Prime Minister John Bruton for an in-depth discussion on the pending Brexit negotiations. The event covered the Brexit process, the regulatory challenges the UK Prime Minister will be facing and challenges on the side of the EU Commission and Brexit Negotiator Michael Barnier and his team.  [Part of EACC’s “Changing the Narrative on Europe” Initiative]

09/21/17 – The Investment Plan for Europe – A Status Update
The European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI) is an initiative to help overcome the investment gap in the European Union (EU). The Initiative was jointly launched as one of three pillars by the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group and the European Commission to facilitate the implementation of the ‘Investment Plan for Europe’ which aims to mobilize private financing for strategic investments in the order of EUR 315bn until 2020.  Guest speakers from the EIB and the European Commission discussed the results to date, showcase EFSI support to SMEs, innovation and infrastructure and outline the prospects for the future. 10/25/2017 – What you Need to Know about the United States Life Sciences Ecosystem  as part of Business France’s MedStartUp Program
The MedStartUp Program by the Galien Foundation & Business France encourages and rewards transatlantic partnerships in the Life Sciences and Healthcare industries. EACC New York designed a custom ½ day Workshop in collaboration with Business France as part of the annual MedStartUp Program.

On February 23, 2016 EACC New York hosted a breakfast roundtable discussion on data protection and privacy related issues affecting US & EU Trade & Investment.

03/1/2016 – EACCNY Newsmaker with Jyrki Katainen European Commission Vice-President for Jobs, Growth, Investment, and Competitiveness.
The EACC organised a first-hand update on the European Economy and first results of steps the Juncker Commission has taken to improve the business environment across the 28 EU member states making Europe more attractive to foreign investment. The conversation was moderated by Paul Solman, Business & Economics Correspondent, The PBS Newshour.

06/7/2016 – EACCNY & Euronext Pan European Days
The EACCNY once again partnered with Euronext to organize Pan European Day. The program was a top-level discussion by chief economists from leading financial institutions on the investment climate and opportunities in the Eurozone in 2016.

On July 13, 2016 EACC’s New York chapter in conjunction with ACG held a Briefing with EU Ambassador to the UN João Vale de Almeida. Ambassador Vale de Almeida updated our guests on the state of the global and European economic & political state-of-play in the wake of the UK Referendum and its impact on US Investors.

The MedStartUp Program by the Galien Foundation & Business France encourages and rewards transatlantic partnerships in the Life Sciences and Healthcare industries. EACC New York designed a custom ½ day Workshop in collaboration with Business France as part of the annual MedStartUp Program.

11/07/2016 – Briefing & Business Dialogue with Dr. Joseph Muscat, Prime Minister of Malta
On November 7, 2016, the EACC hosted a Briefing & Business Dialogue with  Dr. Joseph Muscat, Prime Minister of Malta. Mr. Muscat was accompanied by Prof. Joe V. Bannister, Chairman, Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA).

2/11/15 – Private Dinner with His Excellency David O’Sullivan Ambassador of the European Union to the United States of America
On February 11, 2015 the EACCNY hosted a private off-the-record discussion about the latest developments in Europe, what they mean for the global economy and the relationship between Europe and the United States. The occasion marked the Ambassadors first visit to New York after taking office.

On February 27, 2014, in partnership with the United States Department of Commerce, the European American Chamber of Commerce in New York (EACCNY) held a Roundtable about where T-TIP negotiations currently stand.

4/28/15 Breakfast with Paulo Portas, Deputy Prime Minister of Portugal
April 28th, 2015 – EACCNY in partnership with the Embassy of Portugal to the United States and EACCNY member AICEP Portugal Trade & Investment Agency, hosted a breakfast with his Excellency Paulo de Sacadura Cabral Portas, Deputy Prime Minister of Portugal. The event was held at the Harvard Club in New York City.

4/30/15 – Newsmaker Breakfast with David O’Sullivan, EU Ambassador to the United States
On April 30, 2015, the EACCNY hosted a Newsmaker Breakfast with David O’Sullivan, EU Ambassador to the United States, in a conversation with Daniel Bases of Reuters News. The discussion was organized in partnership with the State University of New York and the Foreign Trade Commissioners Association.

5/8/15 – Multi-Stakeholder Leadership Workshop in support of the United Nations “Financing for Development Process” On May 8, 2015 the European-American Chamber of Commerce and UN DESA hosted a  joint 1/2 day Leadership Workshop in support of the UN’s “FfD Process”. The purpose of this workshop was to discuss and propose ideas by the private sector to make available sufficient financing for development projects in the developed and developing world. 06/01/15 – EACCNY & Euronext Pan European Days: European American Economic Forum On June 1, 2015 Euronext, in cooperation with the European American Chamber of Commerce hosted its third pan-European days in the United States aimed at raising the profile of its European listed companies among US investors. Pan-European days half-day European American Business Forum brought together over 200 U.S. and European business executives and investors representing some of the large issuers from across all the Euronext countries. Panelists included senior government officials, issuers, institutional investors and CEOs and CFOs from mayor industries, as well as chief economists from leading financial institutions.

09/29/15 – Special Latvia Briefing & Business Dialog On September 29, 2015 EACCNY hosted a business dialog with representatives from the Latvian Government, Latvia Railways and the Latvian Chamber of Commerce to discuss Business opportunities in the logistics/railroad and banking sector and developments affecting financial markets on both sides of the Atlantic. Insights gained during the recent Latvian EU Presidency, an update on the state of the European Union’s economy, and information about investment opportunities in Latvia’s infrastructure.

12/2/2015 – Private Breakfast Briefing with Prime Minister of Slovenia & Business Delegation On December 2, 2015 the European American Chamber of Commerce in New York in cooperation with the Embassy of Slovenia in the U.S hosted a Private Breakfast Briefing & Business Dialogue with Prime Minister of Slovenia H. 02/12/14 – The EACC’s Annual Economic Update with St. Louis Fed President James Bullard & Nicolas Véron of the Peterson Institute for International Economics & Bruegel. On February 12, 2014 – The EACC held its annual Economic Update at the New York Stock Exchange with speakers James Bullard, President of the St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank, and Nicolas Véron, a visiting fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics as well as co-founder and senior fellow of Bruegel.

02/20/14 – Newsmaker Breakfast with the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania Evaldas Gustas On February 13, 2014 – The EACC held a private breakfast with Evaldas Gustas, the current Minister of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania, in a special event co-organized with the Consulate General of Lithuania in New York. The meeting focused on the many attractive investment opportunities in the Republic of Lithuania.

05/19/14 – Pan European Days at the New York Stock Exchange On May 19, 2014, in cooperation with EACCNY, Euronext hosted its 2nd annual Pan European Days at the New York Stock Exchange. This high-profile forum brought together over 200 businesses executives and investors – among them 50 companies with up to €400 billion in market capitalization that are listed on Euronext’s continental European markets (Amsterdam, Brussels, Lisbon and Paris), and around 250 investors from the United States.

09/23/14 –High-Level Breakfast Briefing on the European Banking Union On September 23, 2014, EACC New York hosted a briefing by a top-level panel with experts from the European Union and the United States. 11/04/14 – The Benefits of Investing for the Long-Term Despite Pressures by Financial Markets & Shareholders On November 4, 2014 EACC members and guests heard from Blackstone, McKinsey & Major Pension Funds about ‘Leading for the Longterm’. The European American Chamber of Commerce New York chapter organized a moderated panel discussion with CEO’s from major US and EU companies, Pension Funds and other market participants on the benefits of looking beyond the next quarter, including a comparison of US & EU approaches to the subject of long-term investing.

11/21/14 – EACCNY Newsmaker 11/21/14 – EACCNY Newsmaker Breakfast at Bloomberg with the Honorable Stefan Löfven, Prime Minister of Sweden  November 21, 2014 – Together with the Consulate of Sweden, the EACCNY organized a Newsmaker Breakfast welcoming the Honorable Stefan Löfven Prime Minister of Sweden during his first visit to the United States. Stefan Löfven has been Sweden’s Prime Minister since October 3, 2014. The Prime Minister addressed the latest economic developments in Europe, TTIP, and share his thoughts if the changes implemented in Sweden could be a model for the rest of Europe. Prime Minister Löfven was interviewed by Bloomberg TV Host Trish Regan.

12/09/14 – Private Dinner with António Pires de Lima the Portuguese Minister of Economy On December 9, 2014 together with AICEP Portugal, EACCNY hosted António Pires de Lima. As the head of the Ministry of Economy, António Pires de Lima is the Government officer responsible for conducting public policies leading to the ongoing economic recovery, under a strong mandate for economic growth and job creation. He was chairman of the Executive Commission of “Unicer, Bebidas de Portugal”, from July 2006 until July 2013 when he took office at the head of the Ministry of Economy.

12/12/14 – Reception with Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia, Taavi Rõivas, and a Business Delegation of Entrepreneurs and Investors Accompanying him to New York EACCNY was asked to invite a select group of members to a reception held on December 12, 2014 at Alegro Pianos welcoming the Prime Minister of Estonia on his first visit to New York City.

02/22/13 – The EACC’s Economic Update on Europe at the New York Stock Exchange On February 22, 2013 — EACC hosted a panel discussion about what is happening in the European Economy. Two leading economists shared their insights on the economic challenges within and outside the Eurozone, the progress that has been made so far and how the developments in Europe affect the US Economy and the transatlantic relationship. The program was a fact-based, unbiased and balanced outlook for 2013/14 on the European Economy & beyond. Panelists included Indermit Gill, Chief Economist of the Europe & Central Asia Region, WORLD BANK, as well as Dr. Christian Schulz, Senior Economist, BERENBERG BANK.

04/12/13 – EACCNY Conversation with Jose Manuel Barroso on the New Transatlantic Partnership for Growth & Jobs April 12, 2013 – EU Commission President Barroso delivered a keynote speech on the “New Transatlantic Partnership for Growth & Jobs” in New York. The topics discussed focused on EU-US partnership to facilitate growth and improve employment opportunities. The event was co-organised by the European American Chamber of Commerce (EACC) New York and by Bloomberg LP.

04/19/13 – Finnish Central Banker on the State of the EU Banking Sector On April 19, 2013 the EACC New York in co-operation with SIFMA and the Consulate General of Finland in New York hosted Erkki Liikanen, Governor, BANK OF FINLAND and Chairman of the EUROPEAN COMMISSION’S HIGH-LEVEL EXPERT GROUP.

05/21/13 – EU Trade Commissioner Karel de Gucht Highlights Global Benefits of Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership May 21, 2013 – EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht in New York City discussed the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. In his speech to the European American Chamber of Commerce, he stressed that removing transatlantic trade barriers will deliver major benefits to the European Union and the United States, boosting economic growth and stimulating business confidence.

06/03/13 – Pan European Days at the New York Stock Exchange On June 3, 2013 in cooperation with EACCNY, NYSE Euronext hosted its inaugural Pan European Days at the New York Stock Exchange. This high-profile forum brings together businesses and investors – some 61 companies with up to €762 billion in market capitalisation that are listed on NYSE Euronext’s continental European markets (Amsterdam, Brussels, Lisbon and Paris), and around 250 investors from the United States.

06/11/13 – Newsmaker Breakfast with Deputy Prime Minister of Slovakia Miroslav Lajčák June 11, 2013 – As part of his visit to New York, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák today attended a breakfast meeting at the European-American Chamber of Commerce (EACC), at which he made a presentation on the topic “From Reform in Slovakia, through European Integration towards a Transatlantic Trade Agreement”.

07/11/13 – EACC Hosts Lunchtime Discussion with Members of the EU Parliament On July 11, 2013 during their New York visit, members of the European People’s Party sat down for lunch with EACC NY. A select group of member firm executives discussed U.S. monetary & fiscal policy, responses to the Euro crisis, financial market reform, the FTT, as well as global governance & global monetary imbalances.

09/20/13 – The Y Factor: How Women Grow the New Economy September 20, 2013 — The European American Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Danish Government organized a program about the importance of an active participation of women in the workforce and the positive effects this has on the economy as a whole.

09/25/13 – Enrico Letta, President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic addresses Wall Street Audience During an event organized by the NYSE and the Italian Embassy in cooperation with the European American Chamber of Commerce in New York, Prime Minister Letta met with NYSE Euronext executives and delivered remarks about the status of reforms Italy is implementing to address the country’s economic challenges.
