Ambassador Vale de Almeida Highlights EU-U.S. Cooperation in 2014

In his annual New Year’s message, the EU Ambassador to the United States João Vale de Almeida highlights 2014 as a year for strong transatlantic cooperation.  “There is a lot we can do together based on our common values, but also accepting our differences. Most importantly we need to focus on what we can do to help our citizens to find jobs, what we can do to promote economic growth, and what we can do to help the world be a better place,” he says.

Ambassador Vale de Almeida stresses EU-U.S. foreign policy cooperation and the need to jointly tackle global challenges such a climate change and terrorism. He highlights the free trade and investment talks between the European Union and the United States as a top priority in 2014.

Wishing everyone a happy 2014, Ambassador Vale de Almeida also notes that the EU will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the 10th anniversary of several Central and Eastern European countries joining the EU.
