In his New Years Message, Ambassador João Vale de Almeida, Head of the European Union Delegation to the United States, notes that 2011 has been a difficult year as Europe and the United States continue to struggle with the fall-out from the financial crisis.
“It has been a challenge to tackle the problem, but I am happy to note that we have now put in place far-reaching and unprecedented reforms that will be a game-changer for us,” he says. “I’m convinced that 2012 will be a turning point as we put Europe’s economy back on track and foster the growth that is so badly needed.”
Ambassador Vale de Almeida highlights the importance of the transatlantic partnership to foster economic growth and job creation. “We will still face many challenges in the year to come, but I am certain we have the determination to rise up and meet them.
With great optimism and hope for 2012, I wish you the happiest of holidays and the best in the New Year.”
