Summer Business Activities That May Require Liability Coverage
The summer is a wonderful time to be outside enjoying the weather and possibly taking some well deserved time off. Many businesses open their doors and engage in fun activities that include water sports, barbeques and more.
Accidents happen anytime, anywhere, and no matter what type of business you’re running. With that, we’d like to emphasize the need and importance of having liability insurance for summertime business and activities. You should consider having, or at the least evaluating and discussing liability coverage with your insurance agent. Do you plan on erecting a semi-permanent tent for summertime activities? If so, we’d be happy to review and provide advice.
Summertime activities you should consider covering:
- Boating, Kayaking, Canoeing and other water sports (including hiring lifeguards)
- Ropes and Zip Lines
- Golf Carts, Segway Vehicles, Scooters & ATVs
- Biking and Hiking on your property or at other properties
- Holiday Events, and Festivals such as July 4th – Special Events, Fireworks, and Pyrotechnics
- Baseball and Softball Challenges or Corporate Tournaments including Axe Throwing now!!!

Do I Need Travel Insurance? It Depends.
Is extra protection warranted for things like flight and lodging cancellations and (quarantine hotels)? It depends. Here is what you need to know.
With the pandemic in our rear view mirror, more and more people are making travel plans but many still have (travel) concerns and that has made people considering travel insurance.
Questions include – does travel insurance cover covid, am I covered if I am traveling internationally, what is “Cancel for Any Reason”, will travel insurance cover me if I cancel because I have fear of contracting covid.
The first thing to do is talk to a Rand travel insurance expert at the time of booking your trip not after it’s booked. They will be able to explain what is covered with your travel insurance policy and the different types of coverage available. The most broad coverage would be “Cancel For Any Reason” (CFAR ) protection. You can expect that CFAR benefits will typically cost up to 60% more and a standard travel insurance.
And it’s always a good idea to check the CDC’s coronavirus website for travel updates.
